Philippines

The “religion” figures look good, but sadly the reality is somewhat different.  You see, in spite of the large number of professing Christians, many millions have never received Jesus as their Saviour and Lord and we are told there is a huge lack of discipleship teaching material in the national Tagalog language.

It was in 2015 that DPM's Philippines Director, John Cochrane (a Kiwi) began to have Derek’s Bible teaching translated and printed.  Since then, he has been able to travel and distribute Derek’s Self Study Bible Course in Tagalog to Bible Colleges and Pastors’ meetings in several parts of the country.  Divine Exchange and How to Pass from Curse to Blessing have now also been printed in Tagalog and these are already proving to be a huge blessing to believers whose spiritual eyes are being opened.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic caused many nations, including parts of the Philippines, to go into lock-down, two meetings were held with pastors in Manila in order to introduce them to Derek Prince Ministries. 25 pastors attended the first meeting with 20 coming to the second.

The pastors were introduced to the work and teaching of Derek Prince Ministries and each one was given an SD card containing 80 of Derek’s audio Bible teachings.

They were also invited to visit the DPM-Philippines website (https://www.dpmphilippines.org/) and download the freely available material, including:

  • Word from the Word two-minute devotional messages in English and Tagalog
  • Over 64 weeks of Derek’s 12-minute radio programmes
  • 120+ Teaching Letters
  • 30 Beginner Audio Messages
  • Several e-books and more

Some of these pastors have a prison ministry and were very appreciative of these free Derek Prince resources.

Derek’s Tagalog books, The Divine Exchange; How to Pass from Curse to Blessing and Self Study Bible Course, along with proclamation cards, were also given to an AOG church who were unaware of Derek’s teaching material.

Looking Ahead

Our Philippines Director, John Cochrane, looks forward to returning to the Philippines to undertake ministry once the nation comes out of Covid-19 lockdown. This will include following up with those who attended the Curse to Blessing seminars and DPM co-worker, Johnny Sy, will arrange other meetings. A wide range of Derek’s teaching material will be supplied to attendees.

Dr Soriano in the north of the Philippines is waiting to be able to meet with pastors, many of whom are from tribal areas, to hold teaching seminars and give them Derek’s books.  John also has pastors and leaders in other parts of the Philippines  waiting for his visits to share Derek’s teaching and distribute books.
