I HUMBLE MYSELF BEFORE GOD

O Lord, who could stand
if You kept a record of sins?
As far as the east is from the west
so far have You removed our transgressions from us.

I humble myself under God’s mighty hand
that You may lift me up in due time.
Cleanse me with hyssop and I will be clean,
wash me and I will be whiter than snow.
Create in me a pure heart, O God
and renew a right spirit within me.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart,
O God, You will not despise.

Keep me from wilful sins,
may they not rule over me;
then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgressions.

Search me, O God and know my heart,
test me and know my anxious thoughts,
see if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
